Kea Coloring Book: Download Safety

Concerns about the download

It’s always good to be careful about anything that you download from the internet! I hope the information on this page will reassure you about the safety of downloading and installing the Kea Coloring Book.

Reputation

One good measure of safety is the reputation and longevity of the company and the site you are downloading from.

Kea Software has been around for 20 years with no history of viruses of other malicious software. Chances are if you are here, you may have already used a previous version of the software and know these downloads can be trusted.

The main Kea Software website has been registered since 2003. The separate Kea Coloring Book site (this site) has been registered since 2009.

You can also consider checking various online site reputation checks.

Check the safety BEFORE downloading

The VirusTotal website can check a file for viruses without even needing to download the file.

You can get the download url from the download page by right clicking the link and selecting "copy link address". Paste the URL into the virus total website, and then check the results. They should all show as "Clean" (or possibly "Unrated").

Microsoft Defender SmartScreen

When you run the install you may get a warning from Windows saying:
"Windows protected your PC. Microsoft Defender SmartScreen prevented an unrecognized app from starting..."

This can happen because the install is for a new product and SmartScreen hasn’t seen it enough times to trust it.

It is safe to continue installation. Just click on "More info" and then click [Run anyway].
